Eerrgghh - brain not working

I've been thinking to myself recently that I would really love to write a book. But then I run into a small problem - I have no idea how to do it! Maybe that sounds strange, but I can't quite get my brain around it.
Are there any writers out there who could give me a few tips?
Well, it would probably take me about 5 years to write, anyhow!

It takes a lot of discipline and time; still, you have the natural talent to write, so go for it. I waited over ten years for a novel of mine that is now in the publishing process. But you seem very young and have all the time in the world--be patient and write on something dear to you. LOL

Thank you so much! I think I will try and start writing a novel of some description and see what happens. I need some characters now! Thanks again, steven, I'm so pleased that you think I have a natural talent to write! lol

are you my long lost twin?
Let's see....libertarian, jobless, manuscript starter...I jolly well could be.
(or
depending)
I'll give you an insightful for every one you send me
My dear lost soul, I promise you that you wouldn't want them. Agents would laugh you out of their offices. Editors would throw drinks in your face. Even the smug interns would take relish in drawing a big fat Sharpie X over the manuscript, enclosing it with a duplicated note that says "Does not meet our expectations / YOU SUCK! GO WORK AT McDONALDS, YOU CRAZY WENCH!"
